PS Store - Plus 50% discount

PS Store are offering 12 months Plus for half price until 19th Dec for new and 'out of membership' customers, and I'd like to grab it for my son as I have got him a PS5 for Xmas.

Am I right in thinking that he would need to log into his account to make the purchase? He doesn't currently use his PS4 so asking him to buy it via his PS account would let on that I've got him a PS5. Or does it give you a redeem code so I can I buy it via my account and and give him the code on Xmas Day?

Well, thanks for letting me know.

I just went through a bought it and for myself, but I had to be logged in and it applied it straight to my account rather than sending an access code etc.

From a scan through the website I can't see a way to buy a PlayStation Plus gift card from the store, they just say to purchase from an "online retailer", who aren't offering the 50% off

I might have to get him to buy it from the store and tell him it’s for incase I can get my hands on a PS5. Though he’s not daft and will probably guess that I’ve already bought him one.
