I love cars, and have had dozens since I started driving in 2004.
Some I owned for years, some for months and some I bought to run around in (like buying an A4 quattro to run over the winter in 2014!).
I have an interest in engineering, and therefore my favourites are Toyota, Lexus, BMW and Mercedes.
Let's start with that A4 3.0 quattro Sport, I bought it from a lovely chap in the Chilterns late one cold weekday evening, we had to drive there and back with the rear caliper binding on my cousin's Civic Type R. 216 bhp and 6.7 secs - bought with around 192k and the number plate reminded me of a Seat Exeo. In my opinion, one of Audi's finest pieces of work - a pure, Bauhaus-esque design.

Like other quattros I've driven, it felt a little "heavy" albeit extremely composed - I guess that's because it didn't feel as chuckable as a similarly powered BMW.

130i M Sport, what a little rocket - 261 bhp and 5.9 secs ..

Guy didn't even count the money when I gave him the envelope, I guess I stuck to my word after arriving first thing in the morning in Lincolnshire after calling him the night before from London. Great fun driving back on the A17.

I have a soft spot for the 330 Ci, being around 14 when it came out - a complete car with a fantastic burble, I exploited my soft spot once I could afford to insure it, when I turned 25! 231 bhp and 6.3 secs ..

What a great engine that was.Love the colour, can you remember what it was called?

Love the colour of the E46. I’ve never seen one in that colour, even pictures etc.
Like the 130 too but I’m biased having swapped my M140i for one this summer.
I had the orange coupe, a black coupe, a black convertible and a silver convertible - all six-speed.Like the 130 too but I’m biased having swapped my M140i for one this summer.
I thought about the M135i but wasn't sure whether I'd like the tightness of the cabin after the 330d.
How's the M140i ..
Think of it as an upmarket Prius in ethos (although the chassis is different), rather than a rival to a A3 or 1 Series.
Ignore the reviews and spend some time driving one - it's quiet and refined (albeit with a harsh ride), has a high quality interior with seats and door cards much better than cars classes “above”, the boot is small but well shaped, there's no road tax, it corners flat (the engineers tried to make it impossible to tell which wheels were driven) and never returned under 50 mpg commuting from NW to Central London.
I didn't lose a penny on mine, and I bought my Mum one for £11k in 2016 - it's still worth £11k.

It’s gone to a new owner. It missed the mark a bit for me, so I took advantage of the crazy used prices and moved it on in May. It was bloody fast, but it only really felt exciting when you were going very, very fast. It made a lot of sense when I was using it lots for work etc but with covid no not really using it, I lost interest a bit. I swapped it for an old 130i in the hole that used car prices settle down next year.I thought about the M135i but wasn't sure whether I'd like the tightness of the cabin after the 330d.
