£15k no mans land

Hi all. Got a ‘17 X5 40e, great car but I’m looking to save up for a 996 C4S which means slightly downgrading the main car. I’ve got a dog (Doberman) and into mountain biking so looking to get an estate or SUV. I’ve considered the usual C class estate and 3 series, but they’re either leggy at 10k or over priced at like 17/18k.
Anything else I should consider? Criteria is really just sub-£15k, caters for a dog and mountain bikes/building materials and not a Vauxhall Mokka.

If you are putting a muddy dog, muddy mountain bikes and muddy building equipment in this car, surely you need something pretty rugged and not in too nice a condition.
Therefore what about a double cab pickup with a canopy?
Here's a ULEZ compliant Mitsubishi L200 2.4 DI-D Barbarian, it'll be a bit over budget as you'll have to pay VAT too

Or a non-ULEZ compliant Nissan Navara 2.5 DI with very low miles
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111199...
Or this pickup-based Mitsubishi Shogun Sport

Stop it. I’d love a pick up but my mrs would have to share it too. Don’t make me want one even more. I do agree though as I don’t put my dog or bike in my current car as it’s “too nice”. Therefore what about a double cab pickup with a canopy?

Maybe an E91 is the way to go?
ULEZ doesn’t matter to me as I’m up north.
I'm not into dogs so don't really know sizes & assuming the mountain bikes will go on the back SUV wise I'd be looking at these:
Subaru Tribeca nice size reliable & smart inside & well under budget, leaving you with a healthy slush fund for the 911:

Grand Cherokee in Overland Spec, well kitted out good cars:

Depending on how much space you need the Infiniti FX could be a good option:

Estate wise I'd go for the nicest E Class I could find:

Wow thanks for those. I absolutely love those Jaguars. Not a huge fan of the interior but I understand I’m not at the top of the price point so sacrifices are needed. Subaru Tribeca nice size reliable & smart inside & well under budget, leaving you with a healthy slush fund for the 911:

Going to add those to the list for sure
WRX Impreza Wagon. Find a Prodrive one if you can, that's the sweet spot.
I've said it hundreds of times but when you put those seats down you can get loads in. You'll get plenty of change out of your budget for that super expensive bike you know you lust after.
We've had three bikes (front wheels off) and holiday bags in the back, with our 8 year old. Plenty of room
Servicing is cheap and ours never misses a beat.

Wouldn’t mind an Octavia VRS to be fair. But not sure if it’s more of a large hatchback than a roomy estate. Superb doesn’t do much for me either.
Might look at an L&K one though, so good shout.
The Octavia is roomier than a 3 series and a c class I think you will find due to being FWD. will get a better car for your money also in terms of age, mileage etc. Might look at an L&K one though, so good shout.

Interesting point. Is that in terms of boot space being larger due to no rear diff? Or are you meaning interior space generally. Also have a baby to consider, and I saw in another thread on here someone with a WRX wagon was not able to fit the child seat into the back with isofix. Not sure if that was due to large front seats or the interior space in general but has made me conscious about space throughout the cabin for sure.
