Warning notice vehicle tax

Hi after some advice

I had one of my cars parked outside the front of my house while i had some work done to my driveway. The car has been sorned for sometime but as it was temporary didn’t think anything else of it.

Anyway it has been clocked with out tax and found a warning notice (code: cle2/6la) on the windscreen.

Has anyone else had one of these as the form doesn’t really tell me what to do... the car is now back on the drive but I’m unsure whether I need to tax it to keep the dvla happy or whether moving it is suffice now it’s been removed from the public road.

Looks bullst to me as it mentions a tax disc, which hasn't been needed in years. Car shouldn't be on the public road without tax though, SORN or not.

It's probably real but the multiple references to tax disk are a bit odd.

Is the car insured? You may be in trouble under the continuous insurance rule too.

No mention of the 5x amount, and I presume you've had no £80 fine through?

This will have been issued under devolved powers by the council. I think it is real. The form code is correct. They report you to the DVLA, they issue the fine.

Nope nothing mentioned of a fine, from what little I’ve found online it gets sent to the dvla (probably why it says part 2). Just nothing mentioned as to what to do, is that the end of it if you tax or remove from the road or will further action be taken...

The CLE2/6 is a reporting form to DVLA of an 'untaxed' vehicle being 'used' on a public highway.

Local Authorities and Police used to use these forms to report vehicles with expired or no tax discs displayed.

Although the tax discs have gone, this method is still used to report 'untaxed' vehicle use to DVLA.

DVLA will recieve their part of the form and compare it with the 'tax' record of the vehicle.

Ah that would make sense, so wait for the fine through the door then?

Could be an ANPR van which drives down the road. On the other hand someone may have reported it.

I was wondering if DVLA contractor had been doing the rounds but had run out of wheel clamps so settled for just a CLE2/6LAP form. Still a 'in use' form despite the disc bit, I guess they are using up old stock thinking of the Taxpayers...

I’ve just had some work done in my garden which meant giving up the driveway and one space in the garage for materials and overnight storage of tools.

This meant that there has been three new (taxed and insured) vehicles parked down the side access road and I can imagine it upset some of the people from the next street, who usually park there and I wouldn’t be totally surprised if they have been checked online.

All sorted now, and everything is back on the drive/in the garage.
