Selling my car to Cazoo.

Hi all,

I have arranged to sell my car to Cazoo later this week, all good, but on the online details they said I need to give some bank details to a company called True layer.

Is this legit? Just wanted to make sure

I think the suggestion was ..... "Ask in there " as presumably the person who sold with them specifically and unambiguously knows relevant information . Did you ?

Car picked up tonight, money in my bank account before it left the drive.

Highly recommended for a fuss free sale. no tyre kickers or test pilots etc.

What's the route from Cazoo (or any of the other pop-up car-buying outfits) and the next happy owner? The Law of Stuff says they're making a profit somewhere.

Nothing rocket science - buy them, clean them up, sell them on.

Doing it all in-house and at scale and on line seems to be the differentiator / business model.

Interesting, I didn't realise they sold second-hand cars too. And not all online - they have a chain of outlets, like a conventional dealer. https://www.cazoo.co.uk/customer-centres/

Sold my car to them, very easy transaction. i was vary of truelayer but it is legit.
When i dropped my car off i asked what they would do to it was a 2011 audi with 70k mileage i thought they would retail it but it was too old for them. the older cars they sell in job lots to dealers.
they dont have anything under 10k for sale on line.

Well, they're more collection and drop-off centres that dealerships in the conventional sense.

Then again, I did once. It arrived on a trailer, the underside was rusty as hell, the engine blew up after 40 miles and it went away on a trailer!

I might be due a whoosh parrot here, but I meant that for all their marketing etc you somehow managed to miss that their business is selling second-hand cars.

I know what you mean - with all their tv ads the last year (or more?) featuring the guy disappearing down the sofa it took me until September to see an ad of theirs in the Metro paper before I realised they also bought cars from the public, which I took advantage the following month - very easy indeed.
