It's all a bit sad. San Francisco is my favourite USA city. One of my sisters was born there when my parents lived there. I've visited several times on holiday.

Along with the rest of California it seems to be having tough times.

"Police Chief LeRonne L. Armstrong explained that most of these attacks turn violent: “more than 175 shots were fired” during cannabis robberies (of legal dispensaries) in Oakland last month alone. "

"On December 1, Jacqueline Avant, the wife of Clarence Avant and mother-in-law of Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, was shot and killed in her home in Beverly Hills. The suspect, Aariel Maynor, was attempting to rob her home when he shot her. He also attempted to kill her security guard.

On hearing the news, Abdullah’s (BLM LA founder) response was to condemn it as “appalling”, yet also called on officials not to use it as an excuse to introduce tougher measures on crime."

The entire state is a no-go zone.

Without wanting to kick the political hornet's nest too hard, This is what happens when you let left-leaning politics and "wokism" run rampant. E.g.. momentum and Corbyn.

California has changed a lot in the last 15 years IMO, and sadly, whilst some changes are positive, there are always unintended consequences of those changes. CA has been very liberal in its politics and social development in the last 10 years in particular, and there are people that will exploit that. But at the same time, let's not forget that California has always had lots of crime, lots of poverty and lots of shootings.
It's not anything new.

I am glad you like San Francisco, tbh, it is one city i have never really gelled with at all. Been quite a few times and always quite glad to finish up work and head south, to LA and further south. But i appreciate most seem to love it there.

Weirdly, this is true, but moreso of the vagrants and homeless people that have flocked to LA since the Police were ordered not to arrest such people living on the street.

My friend moved out of her apartment in the Ritz Carlton Residences in downtown LA and moved to S Florida, as she was feed up of being harrassed by the homeless people that live in tents on the pavement outside the entrance. It started off not too bad, but has become worse and worse during lockdown period, she said with people staying at home more, "they took over the streets!!"

Ive not been since 2019, ie before Covid, but there was a definite change in CA since i strted working out there in the early 2000s.

This is one of the first laws passed that have led to the crazy we see today.

Thanks. I can see that Jay-Z gets a mention there but not Corbyn or Momentum. Is it Jeremy Corbyn or his brother?

California resident here (Orange County)

It is not where near as bad as any of the reports make out FYI. If it was, I would have moved my family out by now.

LA and SF have had huge homeless issues for decades. This is nothing new, although there are many many places I would not want to visit in each of these towns. Point is.. it was happening across all political leaders across many decades.
