honda CRV half shaft

i have a 2006 honda crv, diesel. i am changing the front lower wishbone. on reassembly i have found the half shaft has popped out (gaiter shrunk). how do i get this back in (do i have to jack up the hub assembly?). any help would be great, as it is cold lying on the drive.
