Disturbing/horrific films you've seen or just heard of?
Discussion
I do love horror films, even though SO many of them are just rubbish - things like the Conjuring, Babadook, Insidious and so on are great.
I'm also a fan of films like Saw, Hostel as I do like a bit of gore.
Then there are the down right sick films like Human Centipede which I'll admit I do watch occasionally after a few drinks to 'soften the blow' and have found some are just tripe, some are fairly entertaining, but would probably not want to be watching them sober.
Having seen quite a few lists of 'top 10 most disturbing films' etc, I do have a fairly long list of films that definitely sound like they would fit into 'downright sick' and even beyond that. I'm not sure I'll ever actually end up seeking any of these out, because their descriptions alone are enough to put you off them, certainly when sober.
Any chance anyone here as seen any of these?

I've seen this. On a scale of 1-10 ('10' being entirely unwatchable and on the cusp of illegality and '1' being something like Cinderella) it was a firm 9 Watched The Human Centipede without knowing anything about it and found it quite a bizarre little horror flick.
Wouldn't fancy watching any of those in the list above, they just sound deeply unpleasent.
Only film I've really wanted to switch off due to it being disturbing was Irreversible. Ghastly film.

I found the first one in the 'vaguely' entertaining category (whilst being pretty rank of course) Wouldn't fancy watching any of those in the list above, they just sound deeply unpleasent.

I have watched the two sequels, the third one especially goes down as just such utter nonsense tripe, it didn't even shock or scare, it was just such a poor film in general.
There was a german series on Netflix called Perfume. I saw the odd minute when I was walking past the telly and, while not a gore film, it was sickening/revolting.
That Mel Gibson directed one about the south american civilisation which loved to sacrifice people was pretty sickening too.

Shame, not much here to put me off/get me intrigued: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfume_(2018_TV_ser...I saw Cannibal Holocaust a long time ago, what i remember was a very badly acted Blair Witch kind of film with a heap of gore....maybe slightly disturbing? It was a very long time ago and I was young lad back then and me and my mates just laughed at it.
Eraserhead is the worst film I have ever seen but that's just my opinion.

I'm not overly interested in very old films anyway, so even if Cannibal Holocaust was meant to be awesome, I'd probably be put off my how old it is, so I doubt I'll ever end up watching it. Same for Eraserhead. Eraserhead is the worst film I have ever seen but that's just my opinion.
The Mrs prefers romance films to anything else and outright refuses to watch anything even vaguely horror, which is ironic really as one of the scariest films I have ever seen is “Me before you”. …
I’ll not give the plot away, but let’s just say that the trouble that befalls the young man (main character) could happen to anyone of us at any time - the aftermath and what he went through was very unsettling.

Audition is a bit of a cult classic; I haven't seen it in 20 odd years but it's well loved by those who adore Takashi Miike's films.Mcphisto said:

It was the turtle scene knowing that turtle was real that made me feel sick.Eraserhead is the worst film I have ever seen but that's just my opinion.

Martyrs is a good watch. Not overly graphic, although the final scene certainly isn't for the squeamish, but the concept is disturbing as hell and the pervading feeling of hopelessness really stays with you after the ending.
Indeed, watched the original and it blew me away and had me thinking about the ending for a couple of days. Not an easy watch, mind
