From the top then. biggrin

We had no change in the trajectory when the mask mandate was brought in last year across the UK. 60 million people masked up in public and cases, hospitalisations and deaths just carried on as before.

A year later the mask mandate was 'recklessly' dropped in England and kept in Scotland and Wales. This happened.

So why the mask mandate again given that there is no evidence in the real world of any actual benefit?

Why do some people love them so much?

And will you continue to wear yours?

It’s batst crazy, isn’t it!

I’ve always maintained that you should never underestimate the stupidity of the general public, however they’ve shown a level of stupidity and crazy that even I thought was beyond them.

Where did you get that chart? It is not on the quoted link as far as I can see - did you download the data and create it yourself?

Myself and my other half had this conversation last night, sat in our local family pub (I call it family pub because they are geared towards food. No bar flies etc). Quite expensive and a "night out for dinner" for most people there. The scenario on my other local is quite different (it's a bar with a restaurant at the back).

We sat on a sofa watching couples (of all gender mixes) arrive. Put on mask outside door. Walk in, sheeple dip hands, greeted, walk to table through 100% empty bar area, sit, remove mask. All of them. Around 8 couples I guess. All seperate.

We just sat there asking each other "WTF?", "why?", it literally makes zero sense, but people have just defaulted back to this mode.

We both could not reach much of a conclusion other than both being saddened by the general publics' lack of ability to think for themselves.

We both have (independent) friends who do the same mask charade and one said, "I just can't be bothered with the aggro, so I wear one", and the other, "I don't want to have to make people ask me to put one on". Neither wear one for any other reason than ease of life. A tiny snapshot but quite revealing. Nothing to do with medical reasons, not "helping others". It's all about the easiest path.

Interestingly, local "proper pub" is entirely different - all maskless and a handful of elderly diners arrive masked. Completely different types of people it would seem.

There might be dozens, hundreds, likely thousands of factors affecting Covid rates. Yet you deem it ok to present data as if there's a single factor at play.2
Do you realise how innumerate and lacking knowledge about data it makes you look?

You've shown no causation data at all.

PS. don't mistake me for a mask supporter - I'm not. I just hate seeing incorrect strawman arguments being used.

Maybe there are more respectful people at large than you think there are. I.e. if you're going to someone else's venue it's respectful to play by their rules whether you agree with them or not

Bizarre, isn't it. The psychology and individual motivations surrounding masks are fascinating. I suspect, as you say, a large majority are scared of confrontation and that is the biggest driver behind the wearing of one. We are a nation of timid lemmings.

What else changed?
England removed the mask mandate, the other didn't. So unless you can point out the 'other' factors than also changed at the same time it seems reasonable that masks were not impactful.

The line chart posted just above suggests that those "other factors" didn't affect the first two waves, when (scotland excepted in wave 2), all the curves are the same.
But then different in the third wave.
So what other factors came into play in wave 3 to cause worse results than England everywhere else?

While it doesn't prove "masks don't work" it is yet another body of evidence which contains nothing to suggest that they do.

It requires some extra variables introducing into wave 3 in Wales, Scotland, and NI to argue that they do work, but that their effect was offset by something else. What are those variables?

You like the graphs presumably because it aligns with your beliefs. Not clear what method was used to create that graph but its not official. The URL embedded in the picture does not go directly to that graph, so whilst the data "may" have come from that site, the actual graph did not. Don't know about you, but I don't place full trust in data and opinions posted by internet randoms without applying some critical thinking and attempting to validate/corroborate info.
