Limited Edition Coin eBay scam? Money Laundering?

My girlfriend found a 2020 50p "Diversity Built Britain" coin in her purse today. So out of interest we had a quick google so find out more about it.

One of the links took us to eBay, filtering by "sold" you can see most sold for around £1.50 to £3, but others sold for £3000 to £4500, many around £250 and one is listed at the moment at £6000. What's the deal with that? Is this a money laundering scam, tax evasion? Who in their right mind would pay that when you could get one for £2. Something very dodgy about it.

Were the big money sales issued? Generally the bank notes that were never issued are worth more so I'd assume coins work the same way. Or you're totally right. Even with eBay's fees that's probably not a huge loss to wash dirty money.
