I am not sure who your question is aimed at, but yes the mods do look at the rules. It is however not possible for us to look at every post to check against the rules so your help in highlighting this is appreciated.

In the future if you spot any other posts which you feel contravene the posting rules then you can use the report button to flag it up for moderator attention.

Thanks for raising Rob. As Scrump has already said, we reactively moderate the forums and rely on members reporting content to us that breaches our rules of posting.

If this post was reported, then it would have been removed however we had no reports to raise this to our attention. The poster clearly realised that this broke our rules after posting it and was quick to delete it themselves.

A lot of our moderation challenges come down to context when reviewing content. Sometimes a single post on its own may be fine without the broader context of what has happened earlier in a thread, in other threads or in fact elsewhere in the world.

But with what Driver101 has added, I can totally understand why people would be offended by this, irrelevant of whether it was meant as a mild joke or not.

I got a post deleted and a warning for calling someone devastatingly stupid, after they posted something devastatingly stupid. Not sure how that broke any rules but hey, perhaps I'll start reporting everything that IS abusive and see how that goes down.
