[Now answered]

I have several devices that run Whatsapp. I want to keep it on my phone, and I want to parallel run it on an Android 10" tablet, to take advantage of the bigger screen for family video calls. I can do this on a PC by going to Whatsapp web and scanning the QRL code.

However, on the Android tablet I am unable to do this, and the site will only direst me to installing the android app, which will take over the phone, not let it run in parallel.

Does anyone know how to run whatsapp WEB on a wifi only Android tablet?

I've not had a problem in the past but it's been a while.

Try ticking the desktop browser option in your browser settings.

It's a bit of a pain isn't it. I have the same issue with my tablet and phone, though it doesn't bother me too much as I can cope without access to WhatsApp if my phone is somewhere else. Just seems really antiquated.

If you have a Samsung Tablet and Phone then moving the account between devices is pretty trivial, with the two devices setup to companion each other you get your SMS on the tablet as well as the phone, so you can do all the WhatsApp new device verification on the tablet, or on the phone independently. So you can pick up whichever device you want and move WhatsApp over to it in a few seconds and then if you go out with just the phone, move it back.

It's particularly annoying because if you have a PC there are two WhatsApp apps (the new one is a Beta thing for W11) that login to WhatsApp Web and give you access without any messing around with moving accounts or browser settings.
