Okay, here we go. I’m still shaking as I write this - owning a Porsche has been a life long dream.

This thread marks the beginning of the journey with my (my Porsche?!) 2007 registered 2.7 Porsche Cayman. She is presented in original, rather stunning, cobalt blue paintwork and Porsche’s blue leather interior equiped with a manual gearbox.

Some may scoff at the 2.7 but it is exactly what I was looking for. I’m only young (25) so, in my opinion, the 2.7 will be more than enough power and torque. Coming from little hatchbacks this really is a step into fast and luxurious car ownership.

Something often forgotten by forums and hacks is that car ownership is all relative and about perspective. My little blue Porsche feels like a Rolls Royce rocket ship.

I look forward to detailing our time together and welcome any questions.

Congrats, nice choice. I think the smaller the engine the more fun you’re having whilst pushing the car at sane speeds. I bought my 996.1 a few years back and don’t feel that I need more power, it’s the twisty stuff I enjoy.

Thank you, Richard. I’m looking forward to exploring the dynamics of the car at sane speeds! Are you still in love with your 996?

Nice, great colour.

Yeah, still love it. Always feels special when I get in it and the sound is something that never gets old smile

That's 100% the right car as an entry into sports cars.
The 2.7 engine is solid. Will you do some of the maintenance yourself as these cars don't have to be wallet busters.

I've alot more respect for your choice than for the young lads I see plastering images around social media of mega buck cars they barely own (PCP financed to the hilt).

Thank you, Andy. No finance here just a few years of hard saving and sensible decisions.

I agree with your comment about the other younger guys but I’m glad I’m in the minority of of that demographic owning a Cayman. I’m only paying £28 a month to insure it! It’s as if they’ve never been crashed.

Yes, the insurance on Caymans is surprisingly cheap. I bet you'd pay more for a Golf!

My advice is learn to source spare parts yourself even if you aren't doing the spanner work. Autodoc in Germany (order via app for best discounts) is a good starting point.

You would certainly pay more for a GTI/ R.

Very nice indeed and a welcome change to see a relative "youth" not just chasing the biggest power available

Great choice of motor! Any plans to add the badge back on?

Good question. For now, no. I like the idea that from behind, to the uninitiated it could a number of things. I've already told the girlfriend it's a Peugeot wink

In all seriousness I will source one at some point.

Its the blue that looks kind of grey if you know what I mean. Would I have specced it, probably not. Was I looking for it in my used car search, no.

Do I like it? Yes - I think I do. That said, I spend most of my time looking out the windscreen!
