Jean Alesi to stand trial for 'joke' explosion

The Times said:

Jean Alesi, the former Formula One driver, is to stand trial for blowing up his brother-in-law’s office window for what he claims was a joke.

Apparently his sister is getting divorced and someone placed a small explosive device on her ex-husbands windowsill.

Witnesses gave Police the licence plate of a vehicle seen driving away from the scene with the lights off. The vehicle was traced to Alesi's brother.

Alesi surrendered himself to Police yesterday. His son Giuliano was also arrested and has been charged with complicity to cause an explosion.

Trial will be in 2023. Alesi faces up to 10 years imprisonment.

Alesi and (especially) Berger used to be known for pretty extreme practical jokes when they drove together. I guess Jean never lost the habit!

Didn’t Berger throw Senna’s Briefcase / contents out of a helicopter .. & steal all his clothes from the hotel room.

Yeah, given the situation with the people involved, he’s in a whole load of st.

There’s a line crossed, where practical jokes between mates becomes setting off an explosion at the house of someone involved in a court case against your family member. This looks firmly in the latter category, and usually results in a prison sentence.

It was a male part and much more rude. Senna was not impressed when he got to passport control!
