Was an article in todays Metro (I know I know - not normally the fount of motoring knowledge) about the new upcoming A1 race series; first race of the season is at Brand apparently. Was more interested in the bit about each car having a boost button that gives extra power for a limited period of time, and has a limited number of uses per race - should make for some interesting racing.

Apologies if this is old news, but I'd not heard about that before.

Having a boost button is fairly old, F3's used to have one for a while during the early 90's. They don't anymore though.

they have them in america

not sure if its in CART or IRL

they have a total of 50 seconds i think?

for however short or long boosts

just changes the wastegate on the turbo to allow more more boost

gives them an exta 50 horses i think?

Yeah, Champ cars (CART) run the Push to Pass button. 60 seconds of 50 extra horsepower. Just ups the boost a few psi. Makes for interesting bits near the end, as they keep track of who has how much time left and post it up along with lap times.

FPA has 48 seconds of 50bhp overboost (goes from 300 to 350) - As soon as you hit the button you get 6 seconds of the extra power. FPA will also be at the Brands round of A1 GP as will I in FPA car No2

I'll have 2 spare weekend tickets with grandstand seats available for the race once they send them out, I ordered too many tickets and Brands Hatch won't take them back They were £45.00 each, if you want them let me know?
