Hey guys

About 6 months ago I had new brake pads fitted all round but the front brake pad light has come on now. I've tried resetting it via the dash but for some reason at the end of reset in progress it says reset unsuccessful. Any ideas how I can reset it?

The car is a 2016 x3

Thanks

Might be worth checking your brake pads first!

Was the warning wire replaced ? Have you checked the pads as it’s not unknown for a calliper to seize and wear the pad down. Is the warning wire still intact or is it broken

hehe

My wife had an F20 1 series.

When the warning light came on, I removed the old pads, swore, and put them back in for another 6K miles!

WOT 'e said.

Just because a warning light is on doesn't automatically mean it is wrong, it will be telling you that because there is a fault. Yes, it might not be pads but there is a fault in the pads/wiring/sensor somewhere.

Is it a warning light or are you talking about the milage countdown on the idrive? If it's the idrive, when you do the reset you have to have the handbrake off or it will come up as unsuccessful.

Your pad wear sensor is used. You can’t reset a used sensor from the dash.

This. I had same issue a rew years back. Changed pads, sensor was unbroken so I left it.

Light came on.

Change sensor, all resolved immediately.
