I have an almost 12 month old Bluetooth speaker which wont power up

Its impossible to get through to Amazon, that'll learn me, and the manufacturers website tells me its out of warranty when I go through their online thing and input serial number

1) Surely I have at least 12 months warranty on new goods?
2) Anyone had any joy in this scenario before please?

Not helped by being Christmas but Ive just wasted an hour trying to get through to amazon and the clock is ticking on it being a year to the day

Cheers

Amazon don’t make it easy to return faulty items under warranty, but using the online customer service chat I have always had a positive outcome (once I manage to get through to someone on the online chat!).

Customer Service>Contact Us - use chat or get them to call you. This doesn't work? I normally find them quite responsive.

About a month ago I had to return a Freeview box after about 6 weeks (developed a HDD fault). I selected the "ring me back" option and the phone rang instantly (and I mean instantly). Explained the problem to the Amazon chap and the next day two things happened:

a) Hermes arrived and took my old one way

b) Within 30 minutes, Amazon arrived with a nice new one.

Then about a week later I had an email from Amazon saying everything had been received and processed and the return was all closed.

Really, it could not have been simpler.

Update - eventually got through to a human on the phone.

Replacement dispatched immediately and I can return the broken one within 30 days

Obvs happy with that but not that it took so long and my first online adventure said it was out of warranty.

I wonder how many would have given up?

Cheers

How did you contact Amazon originally?

Went through the my orders bit or something then in ever decreasing circles which culminated with a button to contact online chat which is dead today. Very frustrating

EDIT: Amazon wouldnt let me return as out of the returns window and bounced me to Bose for warranty who's website clearly said warranty had expired.

Vaguely think responsibility is with the merchant under the sale of goods act - may be worth confirming, finding the order and getting assertive with Amazon?

Bose is weird... I've some NC earbuds, the charging case of which stopped charging the other day. The Bose site says out of warranty... but allowed me to create a return, and they duly accepted and sent me a new set without any charge.

Glad it's sorted! The warranty period is not the end of the story - there's still an expectation that a product will last a reasonable amount of time after purchase. Sale of Goods Act is pretty clear on this.
