Buying euro 6 4x4

Hi everyone,

I’m in the market for an SUV, found a nice 2016 BMW X5.

What’s the market like for diesels at the moment? Do they have any life left due to government restrictions year on year? I’m afraid to be stuck with a 35k diesel which has no demand in a few years.

although I’d prefer a petrol, most 4x4s are only available in Diesel.

I am a few month behind you in pulling the trigger but have similar wants/needs. I have been considering the Disco5 SI6 for a few reasons. 1) I wont do massive miles so 21mpg doesnt bother me. 2) I am fearful of ever increasing legislation against diesels making them less and less attractive. 3) Are petrol Disco's less likely to sh*t themselves.


My thoughts are the unloved petrol versions will be a bit more desirable in 2-3-4 years just because "NOT diesel".

No need to worry Euro6 is the highest you can get the next set of regulations will be to bring petrols up to Euro5 then 6, Euro7 hasn't even been agreed yet.

So get the cars you want.
