Advice on fifa 22 PS5

Hi all. My son bought FIFA 22 on PS5 a few months back and I've only just found out that he can’t play with any of his mates as they’ve either got PS4s or they have the better version of it on PS5 (did he call it ultimate?).

So 3 questions for those that know.

1. Is he right? He’s only 11 so might be mistaken.

2. Can I upgrade his version to the best one? He has the disc not digital edition if that matters?

3. I see it’s in the PlayStation store for £45 tonight. If I buy this is it the version he needs? Will he lose his progress on the version he’s been playing for the past few months?

I think you need the Ultimate Edition so that he can play both the PS4 and PS5 versions.
