High mileage Vantage for sale

Hi

My apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn’t find an answer on the forum I am afraid.

Still looking to buy my first vantage, and have seen one for sale that has just over 100k miles. I usually look for low mileage but this one is the colour and spec I like.

I won’t be adding huge miles, and the owner says it has FSH (I have yet to view the car so can’t confirm details.

Ideally I would like BRose to give any Vantage a proper inspection before purchase if they have time, but my question is:

Is this a really bad idea? Should I be looking at sub 50k miles?

Mileage wouldn’t bother me if the car has been solidly maintained (I’d want to see good records and history).

As above.
I assume the price reflects the mileage accordingly so some compensation there.
Buy it on condition as seen and tested, the fact its done 100k+ means its obviously been a good car, no reason for it to suddenly turn into a bad egg, but of course it will required continued maintenance.

I've been running an old Astra for the past 4 years, now as 160k miles on it. Sure, its had bits n pieces replaced, but its far from end of life.
Modern cars are capable of doing FAR more miles than most care to admit for want of new and shiny.
Any 'used' car is a risk to a point, that 100k car you're looking at might already have had parts replaced that a 50k car hasn't, but is due to pop soon. Who can really say.
If the price is right, history and condition in excellent order then it should be fine.

If it’s in great condition and the service history checks out, and you plan to keep it long term, and it’s priced accordingly, then it should be absolutely fine.

Do bear in mind it could be difficult to sell on, as many purchasers won’t look at ‘high’ mileage cars, particularly Astons, Ferraris etc etc, irrespective of condition.

If its been well maintained and priced accordingly there's nothing to say you wont have a hassle free 2-3 years before you need to replace some consumables. You could also buy a 50k miler of same year for a premium price and then find that you need tyres, brakes, even a clutch within 18 months that would leave you £6k of maintenance bill.

I traded in my first Vantage at 9 yrs old with 83k miles on it and the dealer tech who drove it said it felt better than some 40k mile cars they had traded in. They did fixed some paint chips, refurbed the wheels and sold it a few weeks later with a warranty.

88,000 miles on my MY2008 4.3 now. Other than a slightly noisy power steering pump, its solid.

Nat nav DVD has given up the ghost but that's common and a crap system anyway.

Last owner did the clutch and flywheel upgrade to the lightweight ones.

Looks and drives like a new car.

Local ish Indy in Derby does the MOT and servicing. All pretty much Ford Mondeo running costs so far after nearly 3 years. (Don't mention the MPG)

Did I mention that the fuel gauge is knackered? Drops waaaaay too quickly. Must be a fuel leak or something?

Can't see myself selling it. Would love the V12 but I believe that version has an even worse problem with its fuel gauge?!?
