Folks,

I get lost now. Need some easy entertainment, probably nothing more strenuous than playing Battlefield/CoD online. My old Xbox360 is dead.

Would I be able to use an Xbox One for this kind of gaming, and use it with Gamepass? Obviously loads of SH ones around now as everyone upgrades!

Prepared to get the new version but the price of the X in particular is somewhat toppy!

I find the X box one with gamepass really suits my needs. Plenty of choice for games, the console itself is reliable and very good at what it does, but go for a 1 TB version as space does tend to run out once you've got a few games installed.

They are cheap these days, Ebay has loads for sale. If there's a game I particularly want I will get it off Ebay if it is not on Gamepass. For some really relaxed gaming, Elite Dangerous is awesome, it has a good community (both here and online) but will swallow up hours of your time. You can also play in "solo" mode which means you are in the same universe but won't encounter other (potentially hostile) players.

I'd say that at the time of writing, 90% of my games on my Xbox one have been downloaded from Gamepass, as far as I can recall, BF5 is on there as well. Some good Rally games on there also. I can't warrant being scalped for a new XBSX, as I'm only an occasional player.

Go for it, you won't be disappointed smile

I have the Xbox one S. Only advise is to buy biggest version you can afford.
I bought 500gb and few games and it’s full.
External disks are annoying.

My next upgrade will defo be a 2TB version

Get the series x. You’ll have it for years so might as well get the best one, unless you’re poor.

You can get 2nd hand series s for around 200 quid, that would be best choice.

If you’re getting gamepass anyway have a look at the option which includes the console as well as worksnout cheaper than console and gamepass!

Oh i have the series s, perfectly fine but i bought outright by mistake, if oaying monthly for about £5 more it’s definitely worth getting the X

Thanks… was really looking at the previous gen since £100ish versus £500 is a big jump for casual gaming.

And when I need to retarmac my drive too!

But how does the paying monthly deal compare to buying outright and being able to do the Gold/GPU £1 trick?

It costs more on the paper ment plan than std price Xbox + 3 years Turkish xblg and the ultimate £1 or 10 upgrade for 3 years even compressed to 24 months

All access is 28.99 a month for a series x verses buying the console for 450 and 24 months of GPU at 10.99 a month which equals 29.74 a month.

Turkish vpn method would work out at 21.29 a month with 24 months GPU or 22. 37 with 36 months.

If I've done my maths correctly, buying outright and stocking up on the maximum of 3 yrs Gold....

3 yrs Turkish Gold & £1 GPU trick works out at £14.58 per month (£75 + £1 + £450)

Or

3 yrs UK Gold & £1 GPU works out at £16.25 per month (£135 + £1 + £450)

But of course you have to rely on somewhere having stock of the console for either of those options to work, and having to pay up front rathe than spreading the cost monthly.

Don't need gold if you just play online free games like COD warzone, fortnight, apex, soon to be PUBG etc only games you have to pay for you need gold for online. Makes an old console worth it.

Doesn’t the All access include loads of games too though? So the above would need to factor in buying them

My calculations include game pass ultimate which is where the "100s of games" come from with all access.

I would buy the most modern one you can afford. It’s a false economy buying a One, I think. You’d get many years out of a Series S it sounds like.
