Any Guru’s out there?

Here's the scenario!

We have measurement equipment that has to be recalibrated at different intervals. We are compiling an Excel matrix to record these recals and track when the next calibrations are due.

What I'm trying to do is to automatically calculate the next due date.

So,
Lets say a piece of equipment was calibrated today 28/07/05 it is due for re calibration in say 3 months (or 90 days)

How do I write the formula?

Thanking you in advance.

=A1+90

assuming the first date is in A1 and both cells are formatted to 'date'.
Not sure how you would add 3 months though.

Put the start date in cell A1 (or wherever)

=Date(year(A1), month(A1)+3, day(A1))

Hope this helps.

(this is fine most of the time, but you have to be careful if the start day is the 29th, 30th or 31st as you might try to jump to February or a month that only has 30 days)

If I may be so bold!

Just thought of an enhancement to the matrix.

So I've now got this new due date, can I get it to say 'Flash' or change colour if this date has been exeeded by the current date?

Hope that makes sense.

won't that just write the word "FLASH" rather than actually flash?!!?

How about using conditional formatting?

Big Al only asked for it to say flash, conditional formatting would have been over specing the problem!

whoops - sorry - you're dead right. I didn't see that word "say", and just assumed he meant for the text to flash. (couldn't work out why someone would want the word "flash" in such a sheet!)

Glad it all got sorted in the end!
