NBA 2K22; Anybody Tried it?

I haven’t played a basketball game on console probably since the PS1 or PS2 days. I downloaded it from PS store last night as it was even cheaper than buying it in the shops. On PS5 it is graphically impressive, sometimes I’m wondering if I’m just watching an NBA game.
The gameplay is something else though, and not in a good way. Despite trying all the training modes to do the different types of shots and defending, I find the controls needlessly complicated. And even in rookie mode, the AI is ruthlessly efficient, feels like it shoots from just about anywhere and it’s going in, meanwhile I’m struggling to get my points total into double figures! And every time I try to defend I end up giving away fouls.
Can anyone recommend ways to be less crap at the game, or should I have thrown my £29 in a blender as currently I feel like that would have been more entertaining.
A side note as well, I’m also looking at getting Madden 22, but if the controls are as complicated as this I won’t bother, and will stick to Warzone and racing games.
