Omega Speedmaster repair
Discussion
I have had my Speedmaster for about 15 years and yesterday it stopped working. The hands aren’t moving to keep time and the winder doesn’t reach a fully-wound point, so something is obviously kaput.
I’m in Brighton and, whilst there are plenty of specialist local jewellers, none of them are listed on Omega’s site as authorised service centres. There is an authorised jeweller about 20 miles away, so I can go there if necessary, but I wondered whether I’d likely to get equally good service locally.
Any thoughts? If I think of this in terms of cars, I happily trust an independent to service my pride-and-joy, but is the same to be said for getting my watch repaired?
Thanks in advance.

There was a similar thread a week or so ago.
I have had both Seamaster and Speedmaster serviced by
www.watchrepairuk.com
They do repairs as well, my Seamaster needed a few new parts and they did a fantastic job.

There’s an authorised repair centre in Rustington. L Guess. My GMT is going there to sort the bezel.
Thanks, yes, that’s my nearest one. I had wondered if that was my best bet or whether there were other options. According to the link below, Omega charge £630 for a service of a working watch, so I’m assuming my faulty one will be even more costly, hence why I though I’d explore my options.

An Omega service will fix your watch. We had 2 in last year with issues - one a quartz Aqua Terra and one a Moonwatch. Both had issues with the crown - not changing the date and not changing the time. Both were sent off for a service and came back as new. Little bag of parts included. My Speedy even came back with a new bezel - it had a small ding in it which I never mentioned but they obviously noticed it.According to the link below, Omega charge £630 for a service of a working watch, so I’m assuming my faulty one will be even more costly, hence why I though I’d explore my options.

To be honest the only time mine would be servicing is if something was wrong otherwise the price is very steep for a clean and polish.

To contact him, use the message facility on the company FB page. Email is inundated with spam.
I find stuff like this quite bewildering. Clearly a competent engineer yet can't use an email service.
To be fair I know a few business owners that have several thousand unread emails that they don't bother dealing with.

Yeah, I struggle with that too. I also go out of my way to have nothing to do with Facebook. I’ve sent him an email, it’s listed as a contact method on his website with no mention of Facebook, I’ll see if he gets back to me…

He is a watchmaker. An artisan. A decent friendly man who works too much and charges too little. These qualities mean that he has far more work than he can comfortably handle. With an attitude like yours, I would guess that avoiding your business would be a bonus for him.
I'm not being rude, somewhat unlike your reply.
His work is renowned. I'm sure he doesn't struggle for it but it seems much like the common tradesman bashing threads it's a similar approach of having enough work so not being courteous enough to reply to enquiries.
It's quite simple. Delete all. If any spam comes in, just mark it as spam. It won't come through again. Takes seconds.
If he is that busy, set up an auto reply like I received from a Landscaper once. Something along the lines of thanks for the interest, we're booked for 9 months. Try us again then. At least people know where they stand and I'd have much more respect for him than just thinking this 'decent, friendly man' is an ignorant X.
