starter motor keeps getting stuck, need to try 2-3 times before the car will start, any ideas?

aparantly its a fairly new starter motor.

It's the one-way clutch inside the starter head which has failed/is failing. It prevents the engine from driving the starter motor once it's running, and is a common problem. You can get the part from USA, but it's about £80 and it may take some sourcing. Might be easier (and cheaper) to fit a complete new starter.

While my bellhousing is off (clutch being replaced, pain in the ar$e - see another thread) I got the starter fixed cos it was intermittantly doing the same thing.

A local guy did it, charged about 100 quid - that included the carriage for the specially ordered part.
