Don't attch your harness to the zip-line?
Or do you have to get to the end of the wire before hitting the ground ?

Take a tiny can of wd40 or similar and discreetly lube up the bearings on the slider.

Do you have a big nose? If so, make sure you're looking forwards at all times.

That tank on the left looks very happy

Would a horizontal body position help? You would need very strong arms though but that should not be a problem for the typical powerfully built PH type

Or aerodynamic improvements

I've done this exact zip line, you can definitely ask to go at the same time and me and my wife had a good race for the first half, but then she overtook me and won by miles at the end.

It all depends on your build/height/weight as they ask you to stick to certain poses depending on that, although I guess you don't have to stick to it. I was winning when my arms were straight up ahead of me (think of a double superman pose) but lost pace when I put them down in more of a straight arrow style.

(I'd never pay to do it again but it was pretty fun as a one off! smile)

The three ways to get an advantage are:

  1. Reduce friction losses, ie. clean and lubricate the pulley (very limited opportunity).
  2. Reduce air resistance (already discussed).
  3. Increase your potential energy.
Potential Energy (U) = m g h

m = mass
g = gravitational field (fixed in this instance)
h = height (fixed in this instance)

You can't do anything about g or h, so that leaves mass. Either fill your pockets with lead shot, eat some pies or load up with liquid ballast. drink

Bet your bro £20 that you win, give the staff £20 to give you a push, net cost nil...or £40 if it doesn't work biggrin
