Traveller Group Barricade Housing Estate Entrance
Discussion
Just some sort of misunderstanding, surely.
Riot police break up traveller barricade that trapped residents in their own homes
The cuddly unassuming nomadic tribal set, pitched up with 20 caravans at a disused factory a week before Christmas.
Then proceeded to spread their special blend of festive cheer.
Seems like the gates are a legacy, the travellers locked them & then blocked the verge with their vehicles.
Locals report mysterious occurrences, like chain-sawing at night, large fires, litter strewn about the place & cars dumped outside residencies.
The traveller numbers have reportedly increased, into the adjacent gas works.
Along with "alleged" verbal abuse, things lobbed at cars, the litter & other disturbances "alleged alleged alleged", the residents of the housing estate aren't happy.
I once took a wrong turn near Beckton works back in 1999, to be confronted with a similar thing. As I approached the road block & stopped, every door of about 10 caravans opened at once, like the start of some horrible musical number. Very, very intimidating.

Yup, 100% piss take.
I grew up (many moons ago) not that far from a static travellers site and went to school with some of them, rough around the edges would be an understatement but no way would anyone doing stuff like that from another group be tolerated by them - call it not following "honour among thieves" or "don't s
t on your doorstep" but it would have been sorted long before the police or even most of the locals would have known about it.
Just for the record I'm not defending my class mate's parents, there was little chance of them being 100% law abiding citizens and for sure there were some issues within the local area but nothing on the scale of the links above, better the devil you know and all that....

The usual s
te we hear every time these people turn up somewhere; the police and other relevant authorities too terrified to do anything because - racism.
Travelers should be treated for what they are - itinerant criminals who choose to live outside of regular society and provide absolutely zero benefit to anyone. Total scum.

I can’t wait until the current Crime and Policing bill makes it into law. That will be the end of these people making life miserable for everyone they interact with.
Pffft! Why is that? I think it'll take more than an 'anti-protest' bill to rectify the many, many reasons that this situation is allowed to continue. It explicitly criminalises trespass with vehicles. When they arrive on your land now, they are committing a civil offence. Once this is in place, plod will be able to arrest them simply for being there. Easy to prove. They are there, therefore they get arrested.
Whether plod will actually do it is a different question, but it will put an end to the current set of excuses offered for not doing anything.

Well, the world awaits that with interest then! I wonder what the various excuses for total non-enforcement of that will be; does a slam-dunk trespass offence trump 'human rights'?!Whether plod will actually do it is a different question, but it will put an end to the current set of excuses offered for not doing anything.

It is not improper to state the truth. These people and their way of life are a blight on the lives of respectable people. No other group, none at all, would get away with living a life of crime and not education their kids.

It won't happen though. The first time it's tried the usual crying lefties will scream racism and will berate the police for carrying out a "racist" law. The police will then stop doing it. Here's the excuses for Cromer (c/o BBC):'Police failed to properly deal with disorder in a seaside town because senior officers "misread the significance of events", a report says.
A Norfolk Police review into why Cromer went into "lawless lockdown" after 100 travellers visited was instigated by the chief constable.
Pubs, shops and restaurants closed over the weekend of 19 August following reports of rape, theft and assault.
Poor "information flow" was blamed for the failure to deploy extra officers.'
I'm sure similar excuses will be available in future.

It’s a lot harder for them to dodge. With this law in place, you’ve got a landowner saying “I’ve asked them to leave and they won’t - please enforce the law”. As opposed to the current situation of the police wibbling and saying “this is a civil matter and we can’t see a crime being committed” - despite a load of stolen cars, litter dumping and anti social behaviour. The time for the lefties to whine is during the parliamentary process - thankfully the Tories have an 80 seat majority and will ram it through.
A similar law has been remarkably effective in Ireland, which is why these pond life are infesting our countryside.
