Getting hold of an iPad - any suggestions?

[Ari]

I very generously, and very foolishly as it turns out, promised to get an ill relative who is in hospital an iPad today (all the usual hospital TVs and whatnot have been taken away, because Covid).

Upon returning home, I discover you can't get hold of the bloody things for love nor money! (Although to be fair, I'm only offering money).

Any suggestions for getting my hands on one? It does need to be an iPad as is elderly relative who knows how to work one, but any other device will cause all sorts of issues, you know what they're like with things unfamiliar.

Appreciate any suggestions.

All in very short supply. It’s the same with a lot of apple products at the moment. Out of stock everywhere

2nd hand Facebook marketplace etc?

[PerfectDark]

Apple Refurbished store have a few 5th generation Mini’s in stock at the moment if you want new (the only difference is the box - they still come with the same accessories and 1 year warranty), failing that John Lewis have stock (at time of writing) of the 2021 base iPad with 64GB storage for £319. If you want second hand then as others have suggested, FB / fleabay will be the best bet.

CeX might be a safer bet than eBay/Facebook - In my experience they do a fairly decent job of making sure that they’re in reasonable nick with a decent battery life left…

I ended up getting a new sealed one from ebay but was on a 7 day auction so not ideal if you need immediately.

My wife has just sorted out one for her father. She had to go Apple refurbished in the end as there was no new stock anywhere. Ordered 26th and delivery is due tomorrow.

John Lewis say they have them in stock for delivery.

You may be able to get one in store too.

That's brilliant, thank you all!

I'm slightly baffled as I could have sworn I looked at John Lewis. Ah well.
