Looked through all the photos, not sure I can see it's had a single option box ticked. Absolutely bog standard, small iDrive, manual seats, halogen headlights. Someone really wanted that engine in their budget.

The interior and exterior colours aren’t the most appealing plus it’s an SE when the M Sport would probably be the more attractive proposition.

It has been on AT for 7 months and now there's competition. laugh

It shows how crazy the market is if a 2012 530i SE is worth that.

The external colour and wooden internal trim would put me off but I don't think it's overpriced, the right buyer will come along for that and pay it i'm sure but I think it's quite niche given it's SE spec and the external colour, I don't think it particuarly needs electric seats etc myself and the I drive screen is fine, I don't ever move my seats except when it's been in for service and the mechanic has moved it.

Subjective question really. The right buyer will come along eventually. But in my opinion, the straight six and the mileage is literally the only things going for this...

Are the extra options really worth waiting/paying for? Maybe the lights? But to me the car will be very comfortable, with nice engine.

Again, subjective question. When I owned my M235i, a must have was the pro nav, as the smaller screen just seemed too dated. But for some people the standard unit was ample.

If you are looking for a comfy car, with a nice smooth engine, then there are literally hundreds of other options at this price point. I wouldn't want to try and sell this car on once I was finished with it that's for sure....

The dealer hasn't been able to sell it in 7 months. Privately it's going to be harder to sell unless priced well.

How refreshing, somebody who values a big motor over toys, albeit an SE spec..

Yep, agreed. Clearly the masses can't see the attraction either.

Nobody should be paying £16.5k for a 10 year old brown poverty spec 5 series. This market is utterly insane, that should be worth £10-11k max.

Have you driven one before? That 3.0 engine really isn’t very exciting in a heavy 5 series body. It’s a motorway cruiser, not a sports car.

No, I can't say I have driven one of these vintage of 5 series - I had E34s (540 and M5). I appear to be out of touch. SE didn't used to be poverty spec and since when was it only sports cars that were allowed bigger engines? 3.0 for 5 series would appear to be a absolute minimum requirement - and being a non turbo, bmw in line 6, I would have thought quite appealing.
