2 days in and I'm bored! It appears there's only so much sitting on my arse reading, watching YouTube, TV etc I can do.

I built a Lego truck that my son got pissed off with over Christmas and it's not for me. Likewise Airfix etc, built them a couple of Tamiya models recently and it was diverting enough but I'm done. Although the 6wd, 4 wheel steer bus might be tempting if it wasn't so expensive. scratchchin

Had a look on eBay/gumtree and no project bikes about locally.

And I can't get about so all the house jobs etc I could crack off are out.

Suggestions on please!

*Awaiting an x-ray later today, but sprained or fractured is mere detail at the moment.

Cos it's worthless otherwise!

eek ICE, ibuprofen and paracetemol and keep your foot elavated snd then watch all of Netflixs or similar until you get that swelling down. Then have fun learning how to walk on crutches for a few days with your stookie/support boot.

Having watched the epic 'Misery' the other night, ankle injuries currently reign quite high on my anxiety arousal list.

You have my sincere sympathy.

Alcohol is clearly the answer.

If only you knew a physiotherapist or a Doctor you could see about it ....... oh! wink

My sympathies.

Any books you've been meaning to read for years but never got around to? During lockdown I joined the local library online and enjoyed catching up with a wide range of eBooks. smile

Radio 1 relax and a good book is what I would do.

Messed mine up playing footie, think it was called a high strain.
It needed 3 screws to put my ankle back together.
Had a cast on for about 6 months and finally came off crutches after about 9/10 months and never been right since.

Hopefully yours won't be as bad, but it does it get very boring when you can't do much, even simple thing like stairs become obstacles from Ninja Warrior once on crutches and in a cast.

At the time I was into competitive gaming so got a lot of online gaming in, besides that watching TV and reading etc.

Get a proper ankle strap, do your boots up tight and carry on with life. That's going to take a couple weeks to go down and be weak for a couple months, sod sitting indoors that long.

biggrin Unfortunately neither of us have x-ray vision. irked And the local MIU has no x-ray due to staffing issues so I'm 40 minutes away. Luckily it's my left foot and I have an auto.

Got a couple of books but I'm getting fidgety already.

I did that very thing at sea once. Swelled so big I couldn't fit it in my rigger boots. No proper medic, so just had to let it do it's thing for a few weeks until we could get into port.

Been goosed ever since. A small bit of gravel and the heel will go over again.

Audiobooks, though. Good for resting your eyes if you are fed up of looking at stuff constantly.

Not remotely on that scale!

Looks like a tiddly avulsion fracture, plus some soft tissue damage so I'm in a boot for now and the fracture clinic will follow me up in the next week or so. Yay.

Using a (rotten as it turns out..) stump to climb a fence which gave way. I dropped 12-18" with the barbed wire slowing my fall. My other thigh is a bit of a state too. rolleyes

I do all the cooking anyway. Mrs Bill cooked on Tuesday when I did it and neither of us enjoyed it. hehe

I’m afraid that’s not the recommendation any longer and for good reason. Do not ice it! But look it up for yourself instead of listening to strangers on the internet. You’ll help it by any massage you can stand, and as much manipulation as you can stand over the coming weeks.

On the subject of what to do- sleep, read, buy a bell for your family/slaves to respond to?

To be fair, that is still the recommendation not least because these things change slowly. Ice is still good for pain relief.

Not convinced about massage or manipulation for an ankle sprain though, nevermind a fracture. smile

I had a similar result after a drinking accident. Solution? Worked at Le Mans for a week for the 24hrs.

It still hurts a bit four years later…

Coming back to this... Have you done any rehab? Your strength and control go after an injury like this and then it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy unless you work to correct it.

Mrs D says:

Was that a wking injury, or could you try that to distract yourself?

You've got a fat ankle, haven't you?

It's got a good colour.

I hope you're not getting the orange meal. She couldn't cook 30 years ago.

There. That's helpful, isn't it?
