Anyone use this on their PC? I have for a while now and find it really useful. I'm sure someone could write a very useful PistonHeads desktop widget? Perhaps to display car news?

Does PH offer an RSS feed?

Anyway, they've now been bought out by Yahoo! and the program is now FREE.

Yep, i'm a confirmed Konfabulator user. I have the local weather, BBC News, Calendar, nice clock, battery level (laptop only), wireless network strength meter, and Outlook diary summary on my desktop.

Makes things more interesting and easy to get at. I even use the rail timetable widget to keep an eye on when my other half will be due home.

www.konfabulator.com for those who haven't discovered it yet.

I found a friendly programmer who made me a Widget for PC Pro's RSS feed. Where are the RSS feeds for PH? Perhpas he'll make me one.

If anyone wants the PC Pro one, I can email it to you...

Got round to looking at Konfabulator last week and it's very neat indeed. Had a look at how Widgets are constructed and have done a working pistonheads one from the news RSS feed.

Needs some tidying before I make it available, which I hope to do tomorrow.

Konfabulator's a bit bloaty (something like 10MB of RAM for even the simplest widget), so don't go mad installing dozens of them!

PH's RSS feeds don't advertise their presence very well - they're not linked in a form that Safari or Firefox will notice automatically, and the icon is a fairly anonymous little 'XML'. The 'News Headlines' page has one, and some of the sub-categories do (e.g. TVR does, Lotus doesn't).

e.g. Look for this on the main news page
which links to http://pistonheads.com/xml/news091.asp?c=26

I think he means a copy of the PistonHeads thing not the application.

PC died specatcularly (clip holding heatsink on sheared off!) a few hours after posting that. New bits have been ordered, have resurrected a creaking old linux PC to browse with but won't have the widget done for a few more days. Sorry!

Ah yes, sorry. Mis-interpreted it as a request for a dodgy copy.

I've just discovered The Konfabulator and widgets
Great ideas and some really neat little apps.

All we need now is a GASSING STATION type widget!(anyone?)
