AC not working

A week ago went on a long drive (500km) and then did 200km on the Monday - AC working fine

Got in the car on Thursday and - guess what? - No cooling! Fan works fine. fuse is intact

is this likely just a leak or a compressor failure? Havent been able to get to a car AC place to test pressure due to holidays

If compressor, a couple of questions

are the V8 & V12 compressors the same & interchangeable?
does anyone have details of alternative suppliers ?

Possibly stupid question, but what was the outside temperature? HVAC systems tend to have a “shut off” temperature below which they automatically stop working. I’ll be honest and say that I don’t know what threshold temperature Astons use

Check the front of the compressor to see if the clutch is engaged. If not, put guages on it and see if it's low on refridgerent. A/C is A/C so we can start with the basics.

Would be worth checking if you have a coolant leak and if so trace the source of the leak and repair. Local garage ought to be able to do this for you using floursecent dye in a refill of the refrigerant.

Turned out one of the aluminium formed pipes had been rubbing on a bolt head and worn a hole in it. Had it repaired (it's a $700 part to replace) and refitted. Clearance between bolt and pipe adjusted to avoid it happening again

I had an A/C issue, it would start off cold and then go warm. I had it re-gassed and still the same issue.
Turned out there was too much gas in the system and gas a high pressure fault. The garage removed some of the gas to get the correct pressure, it’s been fine since.

I emptied the old gas and refilled and all is well. I used to have a very small leak that takes months to notice. I found an Italian AC leak stop product that worked well. errecom extreme ultra
