I'm making a some autorun CDs for a client and made a 30x30 pixel icon so it looks nice in the drive list.

I've called it icon.ico although it's actually a .gif.

On the CD I have the web folder, the icon and an autorun file that reads:

[autorun]
open=explorer.exe (name)index.htm
icon=icon.ico

I'm sure this plan used to work OK before. What have I missed please?

NB Apart from the icon, it works perfectly.

I thought the icon had to be in .ico format not just a gif renamed

That could indeed explain it - but despite having PS CS there's no GIF option in the 'Save As' menu, despite trying indexed colour, RGB colour, 8 bit and 16 bit.

So how does one create a pukka .ico file?

Bloody genius Muncher!

Got it, unzipped it and shoved it in the right place. Worked first time

When I said .gif in my last post I did of course mean .ico
