As a powerfully built (etc), I'm finding modern sock tops just want to garotte my lower shins. I'm on the outer limits of normal sizing anyway (S13 shoes), does anyone have any sock preferences they can offer please?

I know, ironic, a thread after Xmas asking for socks.... hehe

M&S. I’m a size 16 and never fail to get a pair that fit from there. Alternatively, Jacamo thumbup

Tesco do some work ware socks that fit my size 12 feet ok. A bit thicker at the heel and toes so they have lasted well unlike some others where I’ve literally put my foot through them in a matter of days.

Bridgedale walking socks - they do some thinner ones, some bamboo - higher quality and comfort compared to your M&S skinny dad socks.

Sock Shop - online.

They do socks called "Gentle Grip" or something like that - they're specifically designed not to squeeze your legs.

I gave up on M&S cotton socks a couple of years ago - all of mine are now bamboo - and they're as easy to put on as they were when they were new.

I only wear wool this time of year.

Really liking the 100% wool offerings from Merz B Schwanen at the mo.

Not too thin and not too thick and reinforced at the heal and toe.

€30 for 1 pair of socks?! Better to buy 7 pairs for £5 and replace 30 times!

Yep that’s the ones. They used to be slightly better black and grey ones but been yellow and black (like a rip off dewalt) for a while.

Not bought myself yet, but Darn Tough socks have a good reputation and are "Unconditionally Guaranteed for Life" and do large sizes (all way up to UK size 16)
