Dry ice…

My daily walk takes in a country lane. As per every other lane in the country, there are plenty of fag packets, cans and bottles and fast food packages discarded in the hedgerows

Went through a spate of those little canisters of laughing gas being strewn along it as well but that seems to have stopped.

Several times this year there have been empty but unopened white packets, about the size of a large bag or crisps. Curiosity got the better of me and I picked one up a while ago - it was a packet which would have had dry ice in it like these

There are holes punched in the packs which is why they are unopened.

There were two new ones on the lane yesterday. I’m intrigued as to what they would have been used for. There are no industrial units anywhere near the lane, and I can’t think of an agricultural use for it. Don’t think there is a ‘high’ to be had from it, so just seems strange that the packs appear so often.

I know this is a very random post, but any ideas?

Could be packaging medication, i get some delivered to work and it has to be kept below a certain temperature so they use those packs of dry ice to keep it refrigerated.

It looks like a product used to keep things cool. Presumably a runner might have one to keep their drink cold?

Thry are only one of a handful of suppliers
Someone locally must
Be ordering it. I’d ring them up and give them the postcode and ask whoever’s buying it to stop being a peasant and put it in the bin

Yep, but seems strange that the empty packs are strewn along the lane. Never any sign of any other packaging

Possibly linked to the empty pack of prescription Sildenafil (Viagra) that was on the lane last year. If I wanted to dispose of the evidence, I'd be sure to remove my name and address from the sticker on the box! Was very tempted to post it through the bloke's letter box

I think a kilo of dry ice would be overkill! And its not like you could just carry it - it would freeze your hands

Wonder if there is a serial number on the pack - will investigate tomorrow!
