vdsl Modem dropping out
Discussion
Any computer bods able to make sense of the error logs I keep getting on my Technicolor modem? Im with Shell Fibre Broadband and it keeps dropping the connection - I thought at first it was my mesh wifi (BT) but ive just replaced it with an Asus system and the same is happening. Il phone them up tomorrow but incase I get fobbed off anyone able to tell what is happening?

Lack of IPv6 wouldn't cause "dropping the connection" as he mentions. We need to know what are the symptoms of "dropping"... How do you know the DSL is down, is there a LED on the router that suggests this ? If not, can you plug something into an ethernet port on the router and see if that still works when the WiFi doesn't have connectivity ? If a hardwired connection is also not working, then it does suggest something wrong with your DSL connection or your ISP.
I had a fault with a router/modem some time again whereby the wi-fi would keep failing several times a day. The modem, however, was fine. The only way to reconnect the wi-fi was to reboot the the thing. There must have been a hardware fault with the wi-fi circuit but the modem circuit was fine.
In the end I bought a new one and all was well again.
