Z4 coupe track car - minimum mods
Discussion
So I'm toying with taking my z4 coupe 3.0si on track for a bit
Wondering what the minimum/cheapest/best bang for buck mods would be.
Are standard discs with track spec pads ok? I've heard the brakes are a bit crap for track work and having set my clio brakes on fire on my first track day ever i don't want to risk the same happening again!
Wheels- I know how much of a difference lightweight wheels can make and they should hopefully hold resale value
Half wondering about seats as I'm sure i can save a decent chunk of weight plus again resale value
Will the standard suspension be OK? It's on the M sport springs etc...
For my first track day I'll probably want to do as little as possible on a budget
Any thoughts massively appreciated

Strip out as much of the interior as you dare (if it's just you tracking the car, take the passenger seat out etc)
Personally I'd look at more aggressive pads (Ferodo DS2500s / 3000s / ATE Ceramic / EBC Yellowstuff) and maybe more aggressive discs (Mtec C Hook, ATE Powerdisc or just decent blank discs) and stickier tyres maybe?
I'd want to make sure the brake fluid is decent also and probably change the lines to braided (HEL) etc

The electric seats in the 3.0Si are very heavy so you could save plenty of weight swapping them. And get quite a bit of money back if they are the M-Sport ones. Heated ones in good condition sell for up to £1,000 on z4forum.
After weight saving, healthy brakes and good tyres as already mentioned the most popular modification for most Coupe owners who track their cars is a trip to Birds for a Quaife LSD and a 4 wheel alignment.
