Is there such a thing as an oil spray bottle?
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I have just taken delivery of an air fryer. A lot of the recipes I've seen for them make reference to spraying oil onto the food, which makes a lot of sense, but having just looked online for a suitable spray bottle, I'm wondering if such a thing really exists?
Plenty of the cheapo ones reviewed on Amazon point out that whilst they're fine for creating a fine spray of water, as soon as you put oil in, you just get a squirting stream instead. Given the extra viscosity of oils compared to water, is it even realistic to expect to find a bottle which can create a spray mist of oil?
If anyone knows of one, I'd really appreciate a link!

I've recently got these:

works fine with olive oil. The first squirt can be a bit "blobby", but subsequent ones OK

Which is exactly why I bought the above, IMHO horrid stuff, have you checked the ingredients list? Makes food taste funny, again IMHO, YMMV
I didn’t mean that actual one. Here are some others which may be more to your taste (spray bottles pre-filled with other oil types are available)FunkyGibbon said:

Does the dedicated bottle block up? My primary moan about the FryLight stuff is that it bungs up when the bottle is still a third full... Rally wasteful.Cotty said:

I have this type of bottle from Sainsbury's but with just sunflower oil and it works well. Unfortunatly I can't see that you can refill them. Edited by Doofus on Tuesday 4th January 13:39

You can get oil spray bottles to fill with your own oil of choice if you don't want a prefilled bottle like Fry Light

Were the ones you found on Amazon for oil like these, or water spray bottles?
Yes, these were the ones I saw which didn't look up to scratch. I might try a small plant sprayer from Homebase to see how that goes. Were the ones you found on Amazon for oil like these, or water spray bottles?

You can pop the white collar off with a blunt knife, and then just clip it back on again. Sometimes the collar breaks, but I'm using one that I've refilled once or twice now.

Does it actually come out as a mist, rather than a single stream? There's a couple of the Amazon ones with videos in the reviews which basically look like you're firing oil through a water pistol!

I guess each squirt is maybe 0.25ml

I imagine to get it to mist you need all the additives that are in the shop-bought ready-filled 'misters'. It won't mist with normal oil, just squirt streams.
That was my fear. I've just seen a suggestion that 2 parts olive oil to 1 part water will mist properly, so may give that a go.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
