Ordered my X7 a couple of months back, it’s built but sitting in the factory came park as BMW have put a hold on delivering X5s and X7s due to chip shortages.
I knew mine was missing wireless charging and had to spec Bowers and Wilks as no Harmon Kardon chips - but lots of US blogs saying that touchscreens have been removed from new 3, 5, X5 and X7 series.

Anyone here missing the touchscreen on there newly delivered BMW???
The wireless charging I can do without. But not having a touchscreen on a £80k motor is rubbish. Use it lots in my X3M.

Ordered an i4 last week. They said it will be missing the touchscreen.

Did you get a rebate for the missing tech?
I think it was $500 in the states

The order value is just over £300 lower than the configurator comes to so I assume that is the $500 reduction.

Well, only to an extent in the end. We were planning to order a 420i to our spec but when we came to place the order we were no longer able to even add certain things to the order and we were warned it would very likely not get a touchscreen or HUD or harman kardon or lumbar support.

In the end we bought a car that was already built and arriving at the dealership, which was close to the spec we wanted and had arrived complete with touchscreen, HUD, harman kardon etc; only the wireless charging, passenger seat width adjustment, and digital key were deleted - and the price of the relevant packs on the invoice seems to have been reduced to take that into account (and we got quite a good discount on the car anyway).

I expect the chip situation will get better as the year progresses and some of these features will be reinstated on cars built later, but I guess right now it's a difficult choice whether to compromise on spec or wait a bit longer. I guess it all depends how important the missing features are to you personally; eg it's nice to have the touchscreen, but the knob works fine so it's not really 100% necessary.

With regards to touchscreen, it’s not something I’d be bothered about. Rather use the controller to save having fingerprints all over the screen. Never use mine.
