Anyone here used any of the toner refill kits available.

Ive got a Samsung CLP-500N and a set of new toner carts is over £300, or £80 for diy jobbies...

Yes I've used a refill toner for my (now defunct) Samsung ML 1510, works fine, only £12 compared to £200 for 4 new lots of toner, bargain

I've used a refill kit for my Samsung laser printer. Very cheap. Two main problems, on my model you had to bore a hole in the plastic toner case. This requires you to heat up a metal tool (was supplied in the kit) to a red hot temp and plunge it through the case. Was a trifle dangerous. Second the toner itself is messy and seems to get all over the place no matter how careful you are - especially as you are trying to pour it into the smallish hole you've just bored and it tends to stick together in one lump. If you're a patient, careful person, can be bothered & need to save the cash, then you'll have no problems ;-)

I always find the laser printer refills don't last as long, and are more tempermental (liable to jam etc)

Inkjet refills are great though

Because Nine out of ten problems I go to on Laser's are refilled cartridges. Just becuase the Toner is refilled does not mean that the rest of the cartridge isn't worn or wearing out. The only exceptions were Kyocera printers where the Refill was a seperate item to the rest of the Transfer parts.

understood,

But I paid 550 (now is less than £300) for my printer it came with special toner cartridges with a lower than normal capacity.

Afer 500 pages, and im not talking heavy coverage the printing is faint.. The toners are reporting 80% full...
Samsung are a bunch of xxxxx who would not know how to serve a customer if I hit them with a fish.

Im not giving them any more of my money.. Next time I buy a colur laser I will buy the one with the longest life/cheapest toners.

I have got the same Samsung CLP-500N printer (cost less than £200.00 a few months ago!), and have re-filled all four of my toner cartridges. No problems. The colour balance isn't exactly the same as before, not better or worse, just different. I used refill-toner.co.uk, service and price was fine, re-filling was straight forward.
