It was passed.

Essex is one of the few counties which still has state-funded grammar schools which accept only the most promising pupils. Westcliff, Chelmsford and Colchester High have some of the best A-Level results in the country, and long may it continue.

I happened to overhear part of Newsround today - even the children thought 'deferred success' was stupid. Hurrah!
