How old are Chim/TVR owners?
Discussion
Ok, My fiancee (32), thinks that a lot of TVR owners are older, due to cost of the cars and insurance, but there must be loads like me who want to enjoy these great cars while we're still reletively young.
So how old are you fellow Chim, (not Chimp, hi Rob
) and other Griff, Cerb etc drivers?

I purchased my Chim at 36, but 37 now. Didn't consider myself as old, until I notice that PHers 10 years my junior are dashing around in Cerbies!
There are 3 stages in life when one may acquire one's first TIV:
Stereotype No.1 Finished university degree and have landed a decent (well used to be) job in IT. 3 years on you discover you're reasonable talented and your salary has crept up. Just received your first serious bonus and had a look at insurance and find that as you're approaching 25 it'll be sub-£2k (you live in London). What to do with this cash - deposit on a flat or carry on renting & buy something silly?
Stereotype No.2 Been working hard to build career in law or accountancy. Many years of training but once qualified the money starts to roll in. Married in your mid twenties (your mates at the time were probably single computer programmers(who still play dungeons & dragons!)). Your 2 kids are now just in school. You now live in a 4 bedroom detached house in suburbia and suddenly your mortgage is less than half the value of the house. You're made redundant, but get a new/better paid job very quickly. What do you spend the redundancy on? Cerbie for the kids or Chim/Griff for longevity & manageable running costs?
Stereotype No.3 You're 49. You play golf. 50 is old. You're well healed, but notice the 25 year old who lives round the corner has just turned up in a stonking Cerbie/Tuscan. This can't be on! This chap's nearliy half my age! I'm not old! Right that's done it! - Off down the local TVR dealership. Pay cash for one of the last 100 Griffs (afterall you don't want anything too modern do you).
WHICH ONE ARE YOU!!!!!?

Jarcy,
Very good post. I don't think I fall under any of the stereotypes though. I actually got expelled from school with no qualifications, ( and paid for that stupidity for years to come). As I would not describe myself as too conventional, and love to proove people wrong (even my dad said I'll be stuck in a factory the rest of my life!). I studied hard for myself and now have my own company., I left my last employment as a designer last year as my boss was unethical, and did not respect him. I have learnt most aspects of CAD this year also, which was fun!
I say all this because I hate being part of the sheep, and thats why a TVR is perfect, it is not a fashion statement and there's no pretence about them. I guess thats why I will never purchase a BMW or Porsch, no matter how good these fine cars are, because then, I would find myself pidgeon-holed into something I'm not!!
Have I gone too much !!! lol
