Hello again,
I have here a small list of problems.
Firstly, why is it that no matter how many problems and embarassments I get I still love the car? Ok that is a silly question but I need a morale boost.
1) After filling up, on a hot day, if the car is parked at an angle ( leaning towards the filler cap), on start up it chucks the fuel out??????
2) Does any one have a manifold for a 1986 350i knocking about in their garage?? And for the time being how easy is it to weald the manifold holes, just to keep me going in case I cannot find a replacement before the end of the summer ( really want to get out in the car and meet you guys this year)
3) Steering is really weird. It feels like there is low fluid but levels seem ok. It is leaking something and I am presuming it is power steering fluid. Any ideas??
4) Rear boot lid will not close. I have tried playing with the adjustment but it seems that the locking mechanism will not go off. Could this be something to do with the electrical linkage??
5) On the inside of the doors, the little plastic bits that link the opening/locking mechanisms are deteriorating and not operating correctly. Does any one know where I can get some replacements?
Thanks again guys for all your help.
Mike

Is it a standard SD1 manifold? If so, yes.

Well that just about answers all my questions. Crap filler cap!!! sounds plausible!! what can I replace it with??? The boot latch does not lock into place when pushed with a screw driver and I have tried pushing it a little bit further so it just don't work! Thanks for the door info I will get on to it asap. Any ideas where I can look for a SD Manifold??
Also what is a good product for protecting the roof.
I know I sound really demanding, but I am really keen to get the car that I paid very little ( small Purse you see) into a condition I can be really proud of.
Thanks Mike.

We're very happy with our Leven one www.leventechnology.co.uk/index.htm
Have you ever tried welding a fiat X19?
Also just read your post about neighbour from hell.
I live on an ex farm and as such I am entilted to run it as a farm. A neighbour complained about the noise coming from one or two of our cars, so I got an old tractor out and left it running from 6 am until it ran out of fuel and there was nothing they could do.
Not that I like to be spiteful but........

If it is from an SD1, search on eBay for a seller by the name of room05. He's a gent by the name of Hugh Chambers who has every conceivable bit for an SD1, usually at a sensible price too. (I get all the spares for my SD1 off him)

edit:- Infact might these be of use??? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10414&item=4565115295&rd=1

thanks wedg1e, access to the holes is quite easy and provided I can get the tempremantal MIG to work it shouldn't be a problem. I learnt to weld on a fiat X19 so have had enough practise??
Cheers
Think you're qualified, don't they dissolve quicker than you can weld.
I think I can remember what the X1/9 looked like...wedgtable said:

and yes it is power steering fluid, common ATF.
