I was 16 when the first original episode's of Grange Hill aired on TV, so just out of school - Didn't stop me enjoying it once in a while though...!
Any Grange Hill fans here? Thoughts on this remake....?

He was interviewed on BBC breakfast this morning about it.
It would be good to see especially with how much things have changed in schools since then.
Keep it real and relatable and I'm sure the new generation and old will enjoy it.

Anyone see Buzzcocks over the Xmas Holidays? Had the video to Just Say No on and a line up where they had to pick out who wasn't in the video

Mrs McKluskey and Roland both instantly recognisable

Grange Hill was a guilty pleasure of mine long after school age. I was 13 when it started and watched every episode until I was about 25. From 19 to 25 I used to record it when it came on while I was at work. paperbag No idea why I stopped. Just a change in home circumstances I guess. My favourite character was "odd-ball" Danny Kendall.

Looking it all up on the internet is something of risk for me as could spend hours following links and looking at clips. I like the idea of a film, but will that have anything in common with what I remember?

ooh. I hope Zammo's girlfriend (Jackie?) is in it. Always liked her. Ro-land is a must!

Loved Grange Hill.

I wonder if any of the new cast might be inclined to follow the same route as this....

So many memories - I was a bit younger when it first started - it felt a bit edgy but was mostly harmless back then - Tucker, Benny the Ball and Alan...

Grange Hill vs. Brookdale (and then merged!!) Gripper etc...

Then the newer lot came in... Zammo + Ro-land +++

and then Ziggy etc..

I think I stopped watching it at around that point.

It would be good if they could get some of the former cast members in cameos at least.

Some great fun stories and then some quite gritty ones.

I think a movie is a better option than rebooting it as a series.

I thought Waterloo Road was the (spiritual) successor to Grange Hill? And isn't there another one on Channel 4?

I do hope the film title sequence manages to incorporate a fork on a sausage flying across the screen.

biglaugh That's what Alan Humphries used to say about twice an episode. "Flippin' 'eck Tucker you nut-job!"

Justin Lee Collins 'Bring Back Grange Hill' was a good watch but then all his bring back episodes were.

I loved GH, I have the 10 series on DVD (the only one's released so far, and, because I contacted the distribution company, currently there are no more planned releases).

But I reckon I stopped watching just after series 10 or so, so I'm pretty much at the end of my memory of them anyway.

One thing I find odd (or maybe it's not), is that almost all(with just a few exceptions) of the child actors hardly, if at all, acted again. But most of the adult actors (I suppose because they were already acting), carried on acting.

And I see the film is due to be set in London, as opposed to Liverpool (where it moved to).

They might have moved the filming, but surely it was always set in London?

I've got series 1 - 8 on dvd, they aren't cheap to buy though. Need to find time to watch them all.

I can't see how they can make a good Grange Hill these days, they probably won't cover bullying as that's supposed to have been stamped out by schools!! Doubt they will have any school fights as violence within schools can't be promoted either. Doesn't leave much left does it?

Isn't that like saying heist movies can't be made because it's illegal to rob a bank?

Like the late Michael Sheard from Indiana Jones and Star Wars.
