Hi all,

Does anyone have a definitive answer to this question?

I have a 25 year old Citroen ZX - it’s a 1.4i - I need a new temp sensor and there seems to be a number of different colours for this car - blue, green , brown and blAck.

They all have the same thread size and number of pins and connector shape. They appear to be used across the range of engines.

Are they coloured differently to indicate temperature ranges as I assume?

My car the temp gauge over reads - indicating that it’s hotter than it is- the connector on the wire is green but the temp sender is the blue type… I wondered if the calibration for the blue one is wrong for my car / temp gauge?

Thanks Andy

Franchised dealer parts dept with your VIN or reg number.

For the part number & the part. Might cost a bit more than an ebay cheapie but you should get the correct one.

Hopefully they'll go that far back!

Yes, different colour for different engine or guage, colour of cable doesn't come into play as long as it's the correct cable connected

Dealers should know, but if the harness will reach I'd put the green connector to its matching sender.

One later PSA the green is dash temp, blue is ECU temp, black or brown is for the fan control and tucked away elsewhere is the oil temp, also black/brown.
