Hyundai Tucson opinions
Discussion
Hi all,
My partner is giving up her company car and so we need to go car shopping. She's set on a mid-size SUV and we think we've narrowed it down to either the Ford Kuga or Hyundai Tucson from around 2016-2018.
Both cars look nice on paper but all of the Tucsons in our price range are either a diesel or a naturally aspirated 1.6 petrol (130bhp). We don't want a diesel, but I'm concerned that the 1.6 will feel somewhat gutless.
Has anyone driven one and able to offer their opinion or perhaps confirm or deny my suspicions?
Thank you!

The 1.6i engine is gutless & has to be worked to get it going, personally I find the Kuga's the better cars.My partner is giving up her company car and so we need to go car shopping. I'm not sure what your budget is but you can get the 1,6T 180bhp engine in the Tucson:

But if that's over budget then go for the Kia Sportage with the same engine & it'll have a years manufacturers warranty left too:

Just prior to Chrsitmas I had a Karoq loaner when my Octavia was being serviced, it was a 1.0 which I thought would be dreadful but it was actually quite decent. Plenty of go for most people and good economy too.
Yes, it's surprisingly adequate, it's a light car which helps (around 1265 kg DIN from memory) - we had the 1.5t but would probably have been OK with the small engine. I bought our 2018 Tucson at a year old without a test drive (wasn't possible at the time as we were in France and needed the car on our return). Was horrified at the lack of power when compared to our old Kangoo 1.5 with 200,000 kms on. Only kept the Tucson for a year and was glad when it went to Cazoo for a pretty good price, now have a new Karoq 1.5 and it's streets ahead in quality, willingness to go and general comfort. Nothing went wrong with the Tucson, it was very reliable but it just wasn't for me.
Have you considered a 3008?
I text drove a 3008 and a Tucson on the same day, the 3008 (1.2 turbo) was better to drive and and was a much nicer interior.
I was expecting the small steering wheel and everything controlled through screen to put me off, but got used to it quickly and really happy with the car.
