Right, bit of a girlie one this but we've recently obtained one of those hot chocolate velvetiser things.

it is pretty amazing but the 'packets' you buy are quite expensive and seem like just chocolate flakes so was wondering if anyone has tried literally crumbling a cadburys fake into it and see what it comes back with?

Any other ideas? (other than using it just for milk to go in coffee)

I would think cadbury flakes would be far too sweet. The cocoa content is too low.

You would need somethink more along a dark chocolate that once mixed with the milk in your drink would blend into a more balanced chocolate flavour.

I’ve not used the velvetiser but to enjoy a regular ‘girlie’ hot chocolate.

I have been adding a shot of Sipsmith chocolate orange gin to mine recently. Delicious.

I looked at getting one of these for the missus for xmas but was put off by reviews that said you can't just use grated "ordinary" chocolate as it clogs up. Personally, I'd give it a go with some high-cocoa bars (Lidl does 70, 80 and 90%), grated and then any larger bits taken out and just see how it goes.

Perfect typo. Cadburys ain't a patch on what it used to be.

so looks like i'll be buying a high coca content bar, putting it in the fridge over night and then grating it into a tub

This is a really good substitute for the official stuff. IIRC Callebaut are actually the biggest chocolate company in the world.

I use to work in the confectionery industry.

The company I worked for purchased about 40-50 tonnes of bulk liquid chocolate every week, and 10 pallets of dark choc chips from Barry Callebaut.

Very good quality chocolate and they supply virtually every biscuit / confectionery company that uses chocolate (But doesn’t make it themselves) in the manufacturer of their products in the UK.

cadbury flakes don't melt so it'll be a lump of turd looking thing in the bottom of your velvetiser.

you could grate some green and blacks etc in though instead
