I've just got one that grinds the beans and filters the coffee, but the coffee is lukewarm. Which seems to be a common characteristic of such machines. Is it just a design flaw nobody has solved? Or am I a philistine wanting hot coffee?

I've tried preheating the mug and adding a bit of hot water to the coffee, but it doesn't work very well and if I'm boiling the kettle anyway it seems a bit pointless using the coffee machine even though the coffee tastes better.

I had the exact same issue and have gone back to a french press.

Ground beans and bialetti for me. Lovely and roasting hot!

Got a pod machine as well but prefer the “real” coffee.

It can be a problem. - some machines allow you to set the temperature and you can wind it up but I thought there was an optimum temp for making coffee and it’s probably not as hot as you like.

My father suffers from this problem. He wants his coffee served piping hot.

His solution is to give it a few seconds in the microwave post pour. Seems like the best option to me.

I wouldn't call it a flaw as the correct temp for coffee isn't boiling hot as that burns the coffee, so a bespoke coffee machines will serve it at optimum. You're not alone in wanting it hotter though so if you must espresso+ boiling water or various filter options are where you're looking.

I heat the milk up 1st in the microwave, I find it makes a big difference.

Santa brought a Jura cup warmer to go with our Jura bean to cup machine. Makes a difference especially with espresso sized cups this time of year

Which model ( machine, not the warmer) did you buy? I've just bought an E8.

Hold on. It's my coffee machine, making coffee for me. The temperature I prefer is the correct temp by definition. I don't allow the alarm clock manufacturer to decide what time I get up.

I have an E6 - the coffee comes out plenty hot enough.

The Jura's are very solid machines, I've had mine a few years and wouldn't be without it. Recommended on PH as it happens at the time I bought it.

It's the basic Jura A1 as we don't need milk frothing. I normally make the large (3-bean symbol) cup size which comes out warm enough. The cup warmer helps with expressos which come out warm but can cool down in the cup if not drunk at once

Temp on the new E8 is adjustable, have set to high. More than happy. Summer here, for the winter I'll just run hot water in the cup first.
