R53 JCW for under a grand…
Discussion
Yes you read that right, a genuine R53 JCW for under a grand.
I had a brief fling with one of these in 2007-8 but traded it in for an E46 M3, a decision I deeply regret as hand on heart the mini put a bigger grin on my face
I didn’t need this but after considering it for all of a nanosecond I had to buy it, I’d be an idiot not to. There was unfinished business with these
It’s far from perfect, it’s got horrible wheels on it and it needs work, however it’s a running driving JCW for under a grand and it came with a set of freshly refurbished R105 wheels thrown in.
I bought it as a bit of a project, sadly the previous owner started a subframe refresh and passed away before finishing it. I got it from one of his friends who inherited the car and refitted the newly refurbished front subframe but the car was vandalised at his unit and he lost interest in it.
As it got it, it looked sorry for itself

Sadly someone decided to smash the windscreen when it was in storage hence the PO selling it

I took the car home before Christmas and I’ve fiddled away at little jobs, bought another one for spares and I’m hoping to get it fixed and MOTd in the coming months.

Next on the agenda is fitting the original S spoke wheels which are en route at the moment. I will hopefully use the tyres on the Kahn wheels on the R105s
It’s a slow burner but I’ll update the thread as I make progress with the car

Looking forward to seeing how you get on. For a grand it would be impossible to say no to…those wheels look bloody awful on it though.
I loved my R53 MCS and would love another one as a toy.
It was under a grand, £900 and it came with these, all freshly refurbished. I’m going to fit S Spokes in the interimI loved my R53 MCS and would love another one as a toy.
They are a hoot to drive, and the JCW is only going one way price wise

They’re nice wheels and will be a big improvement. They are a hoot to drive, and the JCW is only going one way price wise
They’re an absolute riot to drive, I adored mine. It was so much fun on a descent B road.
