Not using seat runners

I am thinking about removing the seat runners from the passenger seat (to start with) for a couple of reasons:
1) I never have to adjust it so could remove a little unnecessary metalwork.
2) Gaining a little more room for the passenger would be beneficial, particularly when wearing a crash helmet, this would give at least another inch in head height.
Has anybody done this before, with the seat bolted directly to the floorpan? Does the flex in the floorpan put a strain on the standard Ultima fibreglass seat or is there nothing to worry about?
Any comments would be appreciated.

The factory seats need the seat runners as the have a bowled bottom. So do not sit flat on the floor. You would only gain about 5mm if you did this....

Have you thought about lowering the floor? I just got a set of the lower floor pans, which wil give you an extra 2 inchs headroom (just about)
